Kristen, I can recall being in Beach Haven West. I may need to look back in my hard drives to see if by chance I have images. There are a few Aerial Shots of Beach Haven West but I think I should have some shots on the ground unless I was confronted from residents of the neighborhood and asked to leave. Some areas frowned upon the thought of me documenting the historical damage. I understand that and always left without an argument when asked to do so.
One Law Enforcement Officer who had damage to his home told me he thought it was very important what I was doing, but also said to not expect him to be viewing them for about 10 years. People will appreciate it later, but at that time it was too much shock. As I told many homeowners, it was never about sunsationalizing the event, it was about documenting the event.
I know for a fact an iconic beachfront establishment had issues with getting their insurance claims settled among a few insurance companies.
Once the insurance companies reviewed my images of BEFORE & AFTER they were able to settle their claims.
I was happy to see some good come out my extreme efforts to shoot as my as I did.
Great site except for one thing. You don't have a single picture from Manahawkin, especially the Beach Haven West area. We are only right on the other side of the Cauaeway Bridge and were hit EXTREMELY hard. Seems like everyone then and now that didn't live in that area has always forgotten us.
This is great! There should be a tv documentary made about the entire tragedy from initial repeated warnings, the panic, the looting , how some people are not even in their homes yet. Government red tape, FEMA ,builder and all contractor frauds
It would truly been a miracle ID the inlet werecleft open. Would have solved many problems. Eventually Mother Nature will have her way.
