The trial started this week for the boating accident that occurred on August 3rd, 2008 in the eastern portion of the Metedeconk River. Below are images of the boat that allegedly ran through the side and up over the top of a 17 foot Boston Whaler. According to the widow, Bonnie Post "the boat was "planing" at the confluence of the Metedeconk River and Barnegat Bay" . The accused claims he was aware of hitting something that night but was unclear what it was. Initially he thought it may have been a log.

Questions raised focused on the bow light of the Imperial  Was it on or off?  One way to know for sure would be to look at the cameras on all of the bridges surrounding the accident's location. All but the far side of the Metedeconk River has bridges with cameras.  The data on those cameras could tell many things. What boats traveled where, how long it took to get from one place to another and the question of the day, did the accused's boat have it's running lights on ?  In the images below, the bow light in the 2005 image is flush with the deck. Typical for when not in use. The August 6th, 2008 image shows what appears to be the bow light in the raised position as if it was in use.  Interesting though is a few weeks later on August 27th, the light was back down in the flush position ?

In a final note, I am not looking to take sides with either party in this case.  I just hope they both have exhausted all possibilities of finding out all of the facts and it comes to the proper conclusion.

Thoughts and prayers to all involved.
