Long Branch, NJ
The 20th Annual Polar Bear Plunge for Special Olympics was held in Long Branch this weekend due to much of the Seaside Heights beachfront being destroyed by Hurricane Sandy.
Seaside Heights hosted the Polar Bear Plunge for the last six years until the move to Pier Village in Long Branch for the 2013 event.
The Polar Bear Plunge draws out 1000's of people each year to jump into the frigid waters which was reported to be around 39 degrees today. Thankfully to the plungers, funds are raised for Special Olympics of New Jersey.
NJ 101.5’s Big Joe Henry, was on hand broadcasting "LIVE" throughout the event.
