Sharkey-Images returns to the Hudson River Run after a 4 year hiatus.
I was first introduced to this event when then sponsor Mahopac Marine had invited me to come shoot their event in 2009. The Fall Hudson River Run doesn't get much better when you can capture the foliage at its peak. It inspired people to keep their boats in a little longer which eventually with such a demand from the people they wanted a Spring Run as well furthermore extending the boating season a bit longer by getting the boats in sooner during the Spring. I have shot the event 7 times since 2009. Every year was very unique in its own way and this year was no different. Jonathan Godfry picked up the event 3 years ago when the previous organizer, then Anthony Rogosich had run out of time for the event due to family obligations. The event was off my radar for the last few years not that I did not want to attend what became an annual ritual for me, but a lower attendance had showed up for the events the last few years that it just did not make business sense to go that distance . Just about 2 weeks before this year's event I was getting messages from many of the people asking me if I would come shoot the event. I pretty much summed it up that I would love to, but I need to be assured I have a minimum number of people to commit if they wanted a helicopter and myself to come to the event. Within a few days we had enough people committing. Then the next thing was people asking for video. People love video. I didn't want to say no but now we just had to up the ante to cover the time it was going to take to shoot and edit a video of the event. Once again within a day or two we had people commit. This prompted me to purchase a new Full HD ACV Cam . Inturn I brought onboard an assistant George Wilde to be shooting video with a 2nd Rented HD Camera. This was so I had full video recording the whole time while I switched back and forth between my Still Camera and the new HD Video Camera. I look forward to working on this Video Project which is expected to take an estimated of a month or two depending on how quickly we can receive people's onboard camera footage.
